Whitewind is a character of Kay Fedewa's The Blackblood Alliance. She is a female direwolf, an early ancestor to the common wolf.

Whitewind is the mate of Greyback, making her Alpha female of Inaria. She is strong and stubborn and loves the idea of being able to make decisions by herself. While she tries to be just in her plans and ideas, they can get twisted by her anger and she becomes irrational.

A good example of Whitewind's irrationality is when Swiftkill accidently killed her two pups Imek and Avie after defending the den against Rapier, Whitewind's eldest daughter. When Rapier fools Whitewind into thinking that Swiftkill murdered the pups by pure whim, the alpha female refuses to listen to Swiftkill's side of the story and then banishes the Blackbloods from Inaria for good. She does not think of how the defense is affected when the Blackbloods leave, nor does she think that she's losing a valuable ally against the fight with the sabres. Will Whitewind's temper get in the way of the war? Or, will it bring the best to Inaria?

Whitewind's mate is Greyback, now deceased. She is the mother of Rapier as well as the two deceased pups, Avie and Imek.
